Issue 8: Top 5 Songs From 2000 Still Popular At Weddings

The year 2000 was an interesting year for music. While so many hits of the time have faded into obscurity or are looked upon with a fond nostalgia, a few have survived as wedding favorites. Coincidentally, the lyrics of many of the hits that are still popular today deal with relationship issues and other non-party themes, but these few are still played quite often at weddings.

*NSYNC - Bye Bye Bye

Who doesn’t remember this massively popular dance hit from the group that launched Justin Timberlake’s career? Even though the lyrics are about a breakup, it’s still a hugely popular number that gets crowds on the dance floor.

Lee Ann Womack - I Hope You Dance

A very popular ballad for parent dances (especially mother/son).

Lonestar - Amazed

An amazingly popular first dance song. It’s been covered many times but the original remains the most often requested.

blink-182 - All The Small Things

Fun story about this song - it was written by Tom DeLonge about his girlfriend after she complained that he wrote songs about other girls but not her. They eventually married, so I guess she liked it :)

Jennifer Lopez - Let’s Get Loud

Although not released in the US in 2000, it managed to chart on the US dance hits. It is now considered one of J Lo’s signature songs, and is still immensely popular! Great when you have a full horn section to really nail those parts!

One other song deserves an Honorable Mention here:

Faith Hill - Breathe

This song has waned in popularity a little bit, but is still a beautiful song about love that makes a wonderful first dance number.
